Saved cards and automatic renewals

Updated Sep 15, 2026

Saving a card lets renewal invoices be paid on their due date without you having to remember. This guide explains how cards are stored, how verification works and how you stay in control of every charge.

How your card is stored

Card details are entered directly into our payment processor's secure fields. YallowHost never receives or stores your full card number or security code. We keep only a payment token issued by the processor, together with the card brand, the last four digits and the expiry date, so you can recognise the card and we can charge renewals to it.

Adding a card

  • While paying: tick Save this card and renew my services automatically when you pay an invoice or add funds with a card.
  • When prompted to set up a card: some existing accounts are asked to add a card before continuing. You confirm that YallowHost may save the card and charge renewal invoices to it, and the card is verified with a small charge (currently $1) with no gateway fee added. The full amount is credited to your account balance straight away and is used towards your next invoice, so you are never out of pocket.

Your bank may ask you to confirm with 3-D Secure during either process.

How automatic renewal works

  • Only renewal invoices for services you already have are charged. New orders are never charged without you placing them.
  • The charge is made to your card that has automatic renewal switched on, on or after the invoice's due date.
  • If a charge does not go through, we email you and try again over the following days. The invoice stays open, so you can also pay it another way at any time.
  • Every automatic charge appears on the invoice and in your Transactions.

Managing your cards

Open Payment methods to see your saved cards and their status badges: Default, Auto-renew on or off, Expired and Needs attention.

  • Use for auto-renew or Turn auto-renew off controls whether renewal invoices are charged to that card.
  • Make default selects the card used first.
  • Remove deletes the card. A removed card can no longer be charged, including for renewals.

When a card is close to expiry or marked Needs attention, add a replacement by paying an invoice with the new card and ticking the save option, then remove the old card.

Staying in control

If you switch automatic renewal off or remove your last card, renewal invoices are still created and emailed to you as normal. You simply pay them manually before the due date. See Overdue invoices and suspension for what happens if an invoice is left unpaid.
